For thousands of years acupuncture has been used to relax the mind and body. Acupuncture excels at integrating the body, mind and spirit to promote health and balance. The focus of this medicine has always been the prevention of disease by establishing and maintaining the balance and harmony of all aspects of the individual's health. Acupuncture safely and effectively deals with various forms of disease and trauma, as well as emotional and spiritual imbalances. When the body is out of balance one can experience stress, anxiety, depression, decreased energy and even physical symptoms like headaches, sore and tense muscles.
What is acupuncture and how does it work?
The ancient Chinese based their medical theories on observable natural laws that describe the movement of energy in nature and the body. This vital life energy or Qi, as it is called in Chinese, flows through the body in channels nourishing every cell. Acupuncture uses fine, hair-thin needles to access the Qi at various points on the body and restore harmony and vitality to the system. Acupuncture is effective on its own and is a powerful adjunct to more conventional medical treatments.
The World Health Organization states that acupuncture is an effective treatment for:
Headaches—back pain—chronic pain—fatigue—depression—allergies—digestive disorders—joint pain—sleeping problems—infertility—menstrual disorders—anxiety—irritability—addictions—sexual dysfunction—and much more. During your session, you will have the opportunity to tell your acupuncturist about your body and its symptoms. Together, you will discover the power of acupuncture treatments.
What about the needles and do they hurt?
The needles we use are solid, hair-thin and bear no resemblance to a syringe. We use only the highest quality pre-sterilized, disposable single-use needles. During treatment the needles are inserted just beneath the surface of the skin. People report various sensations, most commonly a dull, momentary ache or tingling sensation.
Does insurance cover treatments?
Many insurance carriers do have an acupuncture benefit. You will need to check with your insurance provider to determine the terms of coverage on your policy. We require payment at time of service and will gladly provide you with a receipt to submit for reimbursement.
Among the oldest healing modalities in the world, acupuncture aims to rebalance the body to maintain health. Thin acupuncture needles are used to stimulate specific points to bring the body back to ultimate well being. During your acupuncture session, you will receive one-on-one care from your licensed acupuncturist who will create unique treatments to suit your needs. Acupuncture is effective in treating many symptoms including headaches, pain, sleep issues, menstrual disorders, addictions, anxiety, depression, and more.
